Stress is a kind of reaction of our body in response to the changes occurs. Our body reacts in many different ways, it may be physical, psychological, or mental response.
Have you ever wondered why we all have to go through it ?
I think you did, right ? Do you know that all the stress is not actually bad ! Sounds crazy ?
Lemme explain you. Whenever we are in some kind of danger or threat, whether it’s real or imagined, our body’s defenses kick into high gear in rapid, automatic response known as “fight or flight” reaction or the “stress response”.
This is known as short term stress and is good for us because it’s a way how it protects us.
Do yo know that it can save your life too! Yes it can by giving you extra strength to save yourself.
Not only this, stress can also help you rise to meet challenges.

What changes does it makes to our body ?
It slows down normally body functions such as digestive system which results in loss of appetite, our immune system may weakened and we are pron to easily get attacked by bacteria or virus.
The body changes in the following ways –
- Blood pressure and pulses rise
- breathing is faster
- the digestive system slows down
- muscles become tensed
- immune activity decreases
- it may disturb our sleep or sleep pattern
NOTE – How we reacts to difficult situation will affect how stress affects us and our health, so all you need is to stay cool and calm.
Stress affects individuals differently depending how we reacts to it and how we handle that situation.
What is Positive Stress ?
Some experiences that are generally considered positive and lead to stress, such as having a baby, going on a trip, moving to a nicer house and being promoted.
But why it happens ? This is because they often involves a major changes, extra efforts, new responsibilities, need of adaptation. They are also steps to unknown.
Actually person wonders if they can cope !
What are the types of stress ?
The APA explains three different types of stress, which requires different level of management.
- Acute Stress
- Episodic Acute Stress
- Chronic Stress

What causes stress ?
Well their are many factors responsible for this. The situation and pressures causes stress are known as stressors.
We usually thinks of stressors as being negative, such as exhausting work schedule or a rocky relationship.
But anything that puts a high demands on you can be stressful.
Sometimes stress can be internal or self-generated too! Wondered, but it is.
